God is For You

Today's Through the Bible Reading: Psalms 7; 35; 57; 142

Here is something to think about today: If you have received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, then you have God Almighty on your side! You are no longer held captive by your sin (Gal 4:7), or bound to the condemnation it brought (Rom 8:1); but have passed from death to life (Jn 5:24). Because of Christ's atoning blood, God Almighty stands as your defender. He is for us, not against us (Rom 8:31).

David knew God was his help. Throughout today's reading, we find David crying out to God and reminding himself of God's faithfulness, even in the face of discouragement and seeming defeat.

Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help. Psalm 35:1, 2

Jesus told His disciples that in the world we would have tribulation, but to be of good cheer, He has overcome the world (Jn 16:33). In deed, we can be of good cheer, for what other people is so blessed as we are.

For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon Him for? Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons. Deuteronomy 4:7, 9

Remember today that God is faithful. He promises to hear when we call (Ps 91:15). He is our defender and help in our time of need (Ps 46:1); and He loves us very much (Zeph 3:17).
