God, Your Defender

He is able to deal with “Nabal”

Today's Through the Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 25; Psalms 18

Abbreviated Reading: 1 Samuel 25

Nabal is his name, and folly is with him. 1 Samuel 25:25

In today's reading we find a wise woman who had a foolish husband. Here is the beauty of this story. Abigail stood in defense of her foolish husband and God took care of her. As you read the account of Abigail and Nabal, consider this: as we obey God and walk in the Spirit, regardless of circumstances and outward appearances, God is faithful to be our defender. He is ABLE to deal with the Nabal.

Proverbs 14:1 tells us that a wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tear it down with her own hands. Let us be women who build up our homes in the fruit of the Spirit, which is  "... love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Gal 5:22-23.

May we obey the Lord regardless of unpleasant circumstances. He is ABLE to defend and rescue!

…I will love You, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:1, 2
