A Better Way

Jesus pictured in Leviticus

Today's Through the Bible reading: Leviticus 8 - 10

Abbreviated Reading: Leviticus 9

God's Word is full of treasure. Even here in Leviticus! Our focus through the Old Testament is Jesus. He IS the perfect fulfillment of all we find here in the law, the rules and regulations of Leviticus.

The priest's job was to offer sacrifices for the peoples' sin. Our Great High Priest is Jesus, who offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice, FORGIVING all our sins.

The book of Hebrews is the perfect book to read along with Leviticus. Hebrews reveals what we as Christians know...The law showed us our failures, but Jesus took care of them all.

For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God... By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. Hebrews 7:19, 22

Jesus is better than the law, He fulfilled the law; He is better than Moses – Moses gave the law, Jesus freed us from the law; He is better than Joshua and Aaron – they led Israel into the promised land and conquered enemies – but Jesus leads us to an eternal promise land and makes us more than conquers. Jesus is better than the priests and sacrifices – He is our Great High Priest and the perfect Lamb of God. Jesus is better than the Mosaic Covenant – He brought us the New Covenant based on grace and His work alone!

Through Jesus Christ we can enter into God’s presence and have fellowship with Him! (Heb 4:16). God beckons us and wants to speak to us if we will listen. “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

That being said, pick up that Bible, open it and listen! There’s great things in store for those who seek the Lord!
