A Mighty Fortress

Today's Through the Bible Reading: Psalms chapters 31, 40 and 56; 1 Samuel 27 and 29:1-11

In today's reading we see David crying out to the Lord to save him from his enemies. We can relate... 1 Peter 5:8 tells us that we have an enemy, Satan who is like a lion looking to devour. But God, who is rich in mercy (Eph 2:4) has saved us. God has given us a place of shelter at the foot of the cross, where we find grace to help in time of need (Heb 4:6).

As we consider what Christ accomplished by dying and rising again, we will find the shadow of the cross to not only be a shelter, but a grand fortress with all we need.

GOD PROVED HIS LOVE FOR ME (John 3:16)
By it I have PEACE (Col 1:20)
Because of it I am WASHED and CLEANSED (Rev 1:5)
Through it he made me a KING and a PRIEST (Rev 1:6)

Because of it I’m being PRAYED FOR BY JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF (Rom 8:34)
Through it I have NEW LIFE (Rom 6:4)
By it I’m MADE NEW (2 Cor 5:17)
Because of it I’m DECLARED and MADE RIGHTEOUS (1 Cor 1:30; 2 Cor 5:21)
Through it I have POWER OVER and am FREE FROM SIN (Rom 6:6, 7, 11, 22)
By it I have ACCESS TO GOD (Eph 2:13)
Because of it I am SAVED FROM WRATH (Rom 5:9)
Through it HE BECAME A CURSE FOR ME (Gal 3:13)
By it HE BECAME SIN FOR ME (2 Cor 5:21; 1 Pt 2:24)
Because of it I have a CLEAN CONSCIENCE (Heb 9:14)
Through it I have POWER OVER THE ENEMY (Rom 8:37)
By it I will NEVER BE SEPARATED FROM GOD (Rom 8:38, 39)
Because of it I have NO CONDEMNATION (Rom 8:1)
Through it my NEEDS ARE MET (Phil 4:19)
By it I have an ETERNAL INHERITANCE and am MADE AN HEIR TO CHRIST (Heb 9:15; Titus 3:7; 1 Pt 1:4)
Because of it there is A BETTER WAY (Heb 10:4; Heb 12:24)
Through it I have ABUNDANT LIFE (Jn 10:10)
By it MY THIRST IS QUENCHED (Jn 4:14; Jn 6:35; Rev 22:17)
Because of it I have RECEIVED THE ATONEMENT (Rom 5:11)
Through it my SINS ARE BLOTTED OUT (Col 2:14)
By it I have an AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF MY FAITH (Heb 12:2; Phil 1:6)

Because of it I have ETERNAL LIFE!

WHAT A SAVIOR!

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24
