A Lamp to Light Your Way

God teaches us His truth through His Word. God’s Word washes our mind and sanctifies our hearts (Jn 17:17). We need His Word to light our path (Ps 119:105). Without it, we have no anchor and are left with only our own faulty ideas, misguided theories and concepts based on volatile emotion.

God’s Word needs to be the foundation for our thinking. It’s where the truth about who God is and what He wants of us can be found. It keeps our mind right and our perspective straight.

David understood this and cries out to God for wisdom.

Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. Psalm 86:11

Truly God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Ps 119:105).
