The Glorious New Covenant

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Jeremiah 30-31; Ezekiel 26

“…I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel…” Jeremiah 31:31

Jeremiah chapter 31 contains perhaps the most significant key to unlocking our understanding of the New Covenant as it relates to God fulfilling the Old Covenant. Remember, Jesus is the very essence of the Scriptures. The Old Testament points to Him and the New Testament reveals Him. He can be found on every page and in every story. If we look for Him, we will find Him. After all, He is the Word made flesh (John 1:14).  But in Jeremiah chapter 31, we don’t have a shadow or a colorfully painted picture of our prophesied Savior. Rather, Jeremiah 31 is God Himself, plainly giving us the promise of the glorious New Covenant.
