Because of His Love

Today's Through the Bible Reading: Psalms 20, 44, 60, 108, 124

Abbreviated Reading: Psalm 44

"It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was YOUR RIGHT HAND, YOUR ARM, and the LIGHT of YOUR FACE, for YOU LOVED THEM." Psalm 44:3

It's not our good deeds that save us, for all have sinned and fallen short of God's standard (Rom 3:23). It's not our efforts that bring victory over sin (Rev 12:11). But it's through the outstretched arms of Jesus on Calvary that we're washed clean and made whole. We were the joy that was set before Him and why He endured the cross (Heb 12:2).

I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Isaiah 43:25

Just like Israel in today's reading, we need to be reminded of this truth! As we walk with the Lord and aim to please Him, there is a propensity for pride to creep in.  BUT, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the work He accomplished on the cross, and daily consuming God's Word will provide a true backdrop of our need as sinners. Its solely through Christ and His power that any victory has been won.

…Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. Zechariah 4:6
