The Power of His Word

Today's Through the Bible Reading: Proverbs 28 - 30

Proverbs stresses the importance of God's Word. That only makes sense because through the power of God’s spoken Word He brought the world into existence (Gen. 1). That Word then became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14) where He spoke and the dead came to life (John 11:43), the lame walked (John 5:8), and the blind could see (John 9:25). That same power works in us as we take in His Word.

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

God’s Word is alive and when we are faithful and diligent to devour it, it accomplishes what God desires to happen in our hearts and minds (Isa. 55:11; 1 Thess. 2:13). God’s Word tells us that it does not return void. It is the sword of the Spirit (Eph. 6:17). It is divinely inspired and profitable to you and to me.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” 2 Timothy 3:16

It's God's Word that washes our minds and rebuilds our lives. There isn’t a more important element in building up our faith than taking in God’s Word (Rom. 10:17). It reveals to us the right way to live and transforms us ever more into Christ’s image (1 Tim. 4:5; 1 Peter 1:23; 2 Tim. 3:16).

So know this, my friend - reading God’s Word is the power of God working in you. So be encouraged to keep reading through your Bible, being filled with His Spirit, and seeing Jesus cover to cover.
