He Hears Your Prayer!

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Isaiah 38–39; 2 Kings 20; 2 Chronicles 32:24–33

“I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears...” Isaiah 38:5

God REALLY does hear our prayers and listens to our cares! In today’s story we see King Hezekiah seriously sick as the Lord informed him that he was going to die. Hezekiah responded in fervent prayer, petitioning the Lord to spare his life.

“Then Hezekiah turned his face… and prayed unto the LORD, And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee… And Hezekiah wept sore.” Isaiah 38:2-3

God answered Hezekiah’s prayer and extended his life. But this encouraging story doesn't stop there. After telling Hezekiah that his life would be spared, God knew that the King’s heart was still filled with fear, so God gave him a miraculous sign to reassure him.

“And this shall be a sign unto thee from the LORD… the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.” Isaiah 38:7-8

This is such a wonderful story to me because it’s evidence that God meets us where we are and with what we need. He is the only One who is able to re-wind the hands of time – quite literally in Hezekiah’s situation – and restore years and heal lives.

“And I will restore to you the years the locust hath eaten…” Joel 2:25

Whether your prayer today revolves around physical renewal or spiritual revival, be encouraged by King Hezekiah’s story today and commit to pray because God REALLY does hear and care!
