White as Snow

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Psalm 87; Psalm 125; Isaiah 1-4

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18

The Creator of the entire universe, King of kings and Lord of all lords loves us individually and persuades us to accept His provision and remedy for our sinful condition.  He stands ready to bind up the broken hearted (Isa. 61:1), heal the wounded, and cleanse sinful sinners – giving new life and a fresh start (2 Cor. 5:17).

Who wouldn’t want to grab hold of such a tremendous opportunity! That is what Isaiah asks God's people in today's reading.  “Why do you persist in rebellion?” (Isa. 1:5). “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land” (Isa. 1:19). “Stop doing wrong, learn to do right” (Isa. 1:16, 17). There is forgiveness available! Though your sins are as scarlet, they can be white as snow (Isa. 1:18).

This is the gospel message! Consider that classic set of verses we refer to as “The Roman’s Road” to salvation. This is God’s invitation for the forgiveness of our sins. Though your sins be as scarlet, you can be white as snow!

We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Rom. 3:10, 23). The penalty of this sin is spiritual death (Rom. 5:12, 6:23). But God demonstrated His love towards us and while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Rom. 5:8). The way to this eternal life is by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 10:13). For if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you SHALL be saved (Rom. 10:9).

“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10

This was God’s offer to Israel in the Old Testament and it is His offer to us today. There is forgiveness of sins – you can be white as snow!
