Planned From the Beginning
Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Romans 15-16; Acts 20:7-38
In today's reading, Paul points out and shows how God promised and intended to extend His grace to the gentiles from the very beginning. This wasn't a second thought, but His purpose and plan from the foundation of the world. (see Rom 15:8-12; 2 Sam 22:50; Ps 18:49; Deut 32:43; Ps 117:1; Isa 11:10; Isa 52:15) This gives me great hope. Seeing God's plans unfold and revealed through the Scriptures reminds me that His plans towards us are thought out and precise. He is not reckless concerning us.
Throughout the Old Testament there are hundreds of promises regarding a coming redeemer who would restore man’s fellowship with God. From generation to generation, Israel looked forward to the promised Messiah. In today’s reading the Apostle Paul points out yet another level of prophecy and promise fulfilled – God’s faithfulness to all mankind.
God’s gift of salvation was meant for everyone, not just Israel – He’s “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
God Himself made a way for all people to have fellowship with Him! He’s extended forgiveness to everyone who will accept it.
So let's enjoy the fellowship He has brought and dig into His Word today!
