A Revelation of Jesus
Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Revelation 1-5
Here we go through the glorious book of Revelation.
Revelation holds the potential to either captivate or intimidate, depending on your perspective. A glimpse of heaven can captivate, but insight into earth’s future can intimidate.
However, the point of this powerful prophetic book is not primarily about getting the skinny on future events. Revelation actually is about the same thing the rest of the Bible is about: Jesus Christ! The title itself refers to the Revelation of Jesus Christ (Rev. 1:1), not the revelation of future events. So let’s read Revelation looking not for our Lord but rather right at Him, for in this book we see Him as He is today—glorified! Plus, reading Revelation brings a promised!
“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” Revelation 1:3
The book of Revelation reveals the person of Jesus in chapter 1, His heart for the church in chapters 2 and 3, His home in heaven in chapters 4 and 5, His righteous judgment in chapters 6–19, and His eternal life for you and me in chapters 20–22. Fix your eyes on Jesus.
“Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.” Revelation 1:7
What a privilege to fellowship with God Almighty. If you hear His voice today, let Him into your busy day and enjoy His company.
