A Reason to Rejoice

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 1–2; Psalm 113

Abbreviated Reading: 1 Samuel 2

“My heart rejoiceth in the Lord…because I rejoice in thy salvation.” 1 Samuel 2:1

The feeling of answered prayer - Its awesome! That’s what we see reflected in Hannah’s song of thanksgiving.  God had answered Hannah’s deepest desire and gave her a son. Her heart was overflowing with praise and thankfulness.

But how about those prayers that are not answered the way we'd hoped? Its difficult to pen such a prayer of thanksgiving and praise when things don't work out how we had hoped. But here’s the truth of the matter… “There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no Rock like our God.” 1 Sam. 2:2

God’s Word tells us that He doesn’t withhold any good thing from us (Ps 84:11). So even if a prayer is not answered the way we’d hoped and requested – God is holy; He is good; He is loving. Just like Hannah, God is listening to our prayers. He hears us and answers. He is directing and guarding our feet. Wherever He places your steps and however He answers your prayers, you can REJOICE. He loves you.

For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; upon them He has set the world. He will guard the feet of His saints… 1 Samuel 2:8
