Today's Bible Reading: Zechariah 10-14

Jesus is the very essence of Scripture. The Old Testament points to Him and the New Testament reveals Him.

The Book of Zechariah is no exception! We see pictures, prophecies, and promises of the coming Redeemer throughout the book. Here are just a few:

Zech 11:12 “And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. (see Matt 26:15)

Zech 11:13 “And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prized at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.” (see Matt 27:3-10)

Zech 12:10 “…and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son…” (see Jn 19:34; Rev 1:7)

Zech 13:1 “In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.” (see 1 Jn 1:7)

Look and See Jesus!

Zech 13:6 – They Pierced His hands
Zech 13:7 – The disciples forsook Him and fled
Zech 14:4 – Second coming of Christ on the Mount of Olive
Zech 14:8 – Living water will flow out from Jerusalem (hint: who gives us living water, and so we won’t thirst?)
Zech 14:9 – His name is the only name
