He Binds Up the Broken Heart
The Hope of Jesus Prophesied in Job
Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Job 10-14
Abbreviated Reading: Job 14
Jesus came to bind up the broken hearted (Isa 61:6); to give us joy for our sadness (Jer 31:13); to bear our iniquities and to carry our sin (1 Pt 2:24; Isa 53:5). So of course we would find Him here in the book of Job! In the midst of great loss, heartache, and suffering - Jesus is there with hope and reassurances. So it's no surprise to find types, pictures, and prophecies of Him here in the book of Job.
Like yesterday’s reading, these chapters are full of shadows, pictures, and prophecies that point to Jesus. Listed below are just a few of the verses from Job 11-14 along with their New Testament fulfillment.
Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Job 14:4
And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins… But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Eph. 2:1-6
…the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin. I John 1:7
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9
Surely then you will count my steps but not keep track of my sin. Job 14:16 (NIV)
…"Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." Heb. 10:17
My transgression would be sealed up in a bag, and you would cover over my iniquity. Job 14:17 (ESV)
Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Rom. 4:7 (KJV)
There are many other verses to be considered, so ask the Lord to open your eyes to see Jesus, He is wisdom and the treasure to be discovered.
