The Solid Rock

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Mark 11:27- 12:17; Matthew 21:23- 22:22; Luke 20:1-26

Jesus is our sure foundation (1 Cor 3:11), the cornerstone (Ps 118:22, 23; Matt 21:42; Acts 4:11; Eph 2:20), the solid rock (1 Sam 2:2), our stronghold and refuge (2 Sam 22:3 ); the rock of our salvation (Ps 95:1). He Himself is the Rock that followed Israel in the wilderness.

For they drank from the supernatural Rock which followed them, and the Rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 RSV

Truly there is no Rock like our God! (1 Sam 2:2) And yet, this cornerstone was rejected.

Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes? Matt 21:42 (see Ps 118:22, 23)

Although Israel rejected Jesus and failed to recognize Him as their king, each of us has the opportunity to build our lives on Christ. He remains the chief cornerstone, a firm foundation, the rock of ages.

Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting thou art God. Ps 90:1-2

Let His Word fill your heart and mind today and look to Jesus, our precious promised Redeemer and the Rock of our salvation.
