Promises
Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Philemon 1:1-25; Philippians 1-2
If you're looking for a good memory verse to meditate on, today's reading is full of them. As a kid my siblings and I were required to memorize verses and this one seemed to be emphasized quite a bit...“Do all things without grumbling or complaining.” Phil. 2:14 - [paraphrased and emphasis added by my Mom]. All grown up now and that verse remains constant! God’s Word is timeless, always relevant and always effective. My issues are different now, but God's Word is just as relevant.
God remains true to His Word and the promises it contains. Here's one we can bet our (eternal) lives on:
Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6
God promises to take us from glory to glory and we’ll arrive safely on the other side – guaranteed! (2 Cor 3:18) We can rest on that promise. What He has begun in our life, He determines to finish - He will accomplish it. He didn't leave creation half-finished and He won’t leave the work He started in you only partially completed. So don’t struggle along the way – as He reveals sin, let Him purge it; as He grows you, don’t dig your heels in. Listen and obey, His plans are good and He is trustworthy.
