Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Ephesians 4-6

Today's Bible reading encourages us to leave the world far behind and look forward to the great things God has in store as we walk with Him and in His ways. "Be ye therefore followers of God as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us..." Eph. 5:1, 2

Part of leaving the world and our old ways behind is the process of sanctification. When we allow God to have His way in our life and obey the things the Spirit is calling us to, we will find ourselves withdrawing from the world and the things that once gave us pleasure. Our "appetites" change and we find ourselves desiring the things of God and fellowship with Him. The Bible tells us that if we draw close to Him, He will draw close to us. (James 4:8) This is all part of our sanctification.

Sanctification means being setting apart for God's plans and purposes. Imagine, God Himself has plans and purposes for you! Sin keeps us from those plans and pollutes the joy that we could experience in Him.  But God is full of grace and compassion and gave us His Word that washes our minds and convicts us of that threatening sin.  (Eph 5:25, 26) As we read about Him, learn what it is He wants us to do, what He wants us not to do, as we fellowship with Him, as we read the Bible – we are washed by His Word. (Jn 17:17)

Let's dig into God’s Word today, learn to study it, memorize it and be transformed by the renewing of our mind.
