This Month’s Reading Plan at a Glance: February
Happy February! I hope you made it through January’s reading and are experiencing the bountiful harvest of time spent in God’s Word.
This month we’ll finish up the book of Genesis, dive into Exodus, and start Leviticus - Wow! If those books sound dry or intimidating - get ready to be blessed and see a picture of Christ on EVERY PAGE!
As you go through the book of Exodus, keep in mind that the word “exodus” literally means “departure,” which is exactly what this book is about—the Israelites departing the land of Egypt after four hundred years of slavery there.
We were once in bondage to our flesh and the world, but Christ freed us (Eph 2:1-5). Like Israel we would have suffered death, but we were spared by the blood of the Lamb (Ex 12:5; 1 Peter 1:18, 19). The journey from Egypt to the Promised Land required faith, but God protected and provided every step of the way.
We can see ourselves and Christ’s work in us throughout the book of Exodus. Get ready to have your heart filled with thankfulness as God demonstrates His awesome power, abundant love, and endless mercy.
Then there is the book of Leviticus! Ugh. Leviticus is the reason so many stop reading through the Bible - BUT NOT YOU! If you want to add JOY to the book of Leviticus - look for JESUS! Take a closer look at the fulfillments and how perfectly Jesus satisfied every requirement, thereby bringing us rest.
We’re tracking along with my new book, Jesus, Day by Day. So grab a copy and get ready to have God’s Word come alive as we examine the types, pictures and shadows of Jesus throughout the Old Testament.
God's Word is daily bread that feeds our hungry souls. It's water that refreshes and washes our minds. It's a shield in a world full of battles and a high tower that offers perspective. Knowing that, why would we ever let such a treasure sit on the shelf while we seek counsel from another source.
Here we go...Keep Reading! I’m glad to be reading with you!
