Today’s Bible Reading: Ezekiel 27-28; Ezekiel 33:21-33

We can hear God’s Word and let it change our heart and transform our life, or we can hear it and do nothing with it. The choice is ours. If we decide to let it transform us, God's work is lovely and all together good. If we ignore the Holy Spirit's podding, our heart grows calloused and we become self consumed. That was the case for Israel as Ezekiel delivered God's Word to them.

…they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain…for they hear your words, but they do not do them. Ezekiel 33:31, 32

God gave Ezekiel a heads up regarding Israel's response. He told Ezekiel that the people would come and hear what he was saying, but they wouldn't act on what they were told. We find the same warning in James...

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. James 1:22-25

So today, as you open your Bible (or click on the link above to read) let it sink in, obey what you read, and praise God for what He speaks to your heart. It bears good fruit and works beauty!
