Knowing Jesus Leads to Hope
Job finds hope in knowing…
Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Job 19:1-21:34
Abbreviated Reading: Job 19
“I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth…yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see Him with my own eyes.” Job 19:25–27
Our Redeemer lives and in the end we will see Him. What hope we find in Job’s declaration!
It’s interesting to note that, leading up to those confident words, Job described his trouble as a path shrouded in darkness with no escape or alternate way around (Job 19:8, 9).
In today's Bible reading we see Job acknowledging his captivity to the trouble encompassing him, but more importantly, we see him exploding in an expression of faith that tells the story of the entire Bible – Redemption.
I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth ... yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! Job 19:225-27
The redemption Job anticipated, though ultimately complete, was in reality only a shadow of what was to come in and through the person of Jesus Christ.
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold... But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1 Peter 1:18-19
Our Redeemer came, our redemption is complete; and like Job, our deliverance from this troubled world draws nigh. Lift your eyes and look to Jesus.
