Jesus, Our Perfection

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Matt. 5:13-7:29

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48

What does a Christian look like? Does a Christian look different than anyone else? Does it start and stop with being a sinner saved by grace, or is that grace meant to transform our life beyond the knowledge of the forgiveness of sins? Should a Christian live differently than they did before becoming a Christian, and if so, why? Jesus addressed these very question in today’s Bible reading.

The title Christian means “little Christ.”  As a Christian, we are meant to copy Jesus. Take a look at Matthew chapters 5-7 and consider this “road map to daily life.” Here we're sure to find the answers to the above questions.

Because of Jesus, we have the ability to be “Christians.” We can only be light, because He is the light of the World. We can only be salt, because He cleansed us and gave us life. We can only abstain from sin because He overcame sin and death. We can only pray and be heard because He made a way for us to stand righteous. We can only forgive others, because He first forgave us. We can only cast our cares upon Him, because He cares for us.

Praise the Lord for New Life and victory, in Jesus' precious name.
