Today's Through the Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 13-15:6

God's Word addresses every situation we could possibly face, there is nothing new under the sun (Eccl 1:9). God gave us examples, principles, perspective, and instructions to help us in everything (1 Cor 10:6, 11; 2 Pt 1:3; Col 2:9). Certain details and nuances may vary, but navigational instructions regarding God's ways and principles are there.

Today's reading is a great example of this. Here we read a tragic commentary of the devastating blow of sin and the ensuing family conflict. Whether the examples are warning of what not to do, or how to rise above a situation, God's Word is a compass. It's comforting to know that whatever our personal situations are, they aren't new and God has a plan for us in the midst of them.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments. Psalm 119:105, 106

This is the importance of daily being in God's Word.
