Charizomai
You’re Forgiven!
Today's Through the Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 11-12; Psalms 6, 32
Abbreviated Reading: Psalm 32
In today's reading we find David in the aftermath of sin; buried in guilt, condemnation, and consequences. BUT...God, who is rich in mercy allows David's heart to experience repentance and the reassurance of forgiveness.
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. Ps. 32:1
The Greek word for "forgiven" is charizomai, which means "to grant forgiveness, to pardon, to show favor, to give graciously, freely bestow, to restore."
We all sinned and owed a penalty far beyond our means of repayment (Rm.3:20-23; Gal.3:11; James 2:10). But Jesus offered Himself the ransom for that penalty so we could be restored, FORGIVEN, the record detailing our faults destroyed (Ps.103:12; Isa.43:25).
I'm so thankful that our relationship with God has been restored. He not only demonstrated His power over sin in that He throws it as far as the east is from the west (Ps 103:12), but He releases our guilty consciences from it's relentless grip as well (Heb 10:22).
