We Know How This Story Ends

Today's Through the Bible Reading: 1 Kings 2:13-3:28; 2 Chronicles 1:1-13; Psalm 72

Abbreviated Reading: 2 Chronicles 1:1-13; Psalm 72

Throughout the Old Testament we have read prophecies concerning the coming Redeemer. Salvation was promised to Adam and Eve (Gen 3:15); the atoning sacrifice was pictured as Israel put the blood over their doors (Ex 12); Job spoke of a redeemer who would save him from the pit (Job 33:28); and in today's reading Jesus is foreshadowed and spoken of as our enduring King (Ps 72).

His name shall endure for ever: His name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in Him: all nations shall call Him blessed. Psalm 72:17

It's true, we know how this story ends. God will reign victorious and at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess.

...and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become [the kingdoms] of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. Revelation 11:15

Dig into God’s Word to day and see Jesus – the world’s Redeemer and our Eternal King!
