The Right Plan
Today’s Through the Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 24:17–25:10; 2 Kings 4
Abbreviated Reading: 2 Chronicles 24:17 – 25:10;
Have you ever had a plan and at the last minute realized it was the “wrong” plan? The excuses begin to flood your mind…what about the money I spent, what about the relationships, I’ll look like a fool if I change my mind now, etc. That’s exactly what happened to king Amaziah in our reading today.
Amaziah, king of Judah had a battle plan. He enlisted and paid a hundred thousand men from Israel to help in his attack. BUT, at the last minute God sent a prophet to warn Amaziah that his plan was the wrong plan and God was not going to bless it. Amaziah’s response was understandable – “But what about the money I paid for these troops?” God is good and the prophet’s response is potent:
The Lord can give you much more than that. 2 Chronicles 25:9
Although our planning and efforts may seem to be a precious investment of time, energy and/or money, if God isn't in it – it’s not worth going through with it! God blesses obedience and is able to give abundantly above all that we ask or think (Eph 3:20).
If you are on the path of a "wrong plan" today, be courageous and obey! What may be hard to do at the moment will bring blessing in the end. God's Word is true and His ways are good and right. He gives strength to the weak and courage to the faint in heart.
