He Is Searching

Today's Through the Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 16:1–18:1; 1 Kings 16

Abbreviated Reading: 2 Chronicles 16-17

"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him..." 2 Chronicles 16:9 NKJV

How many of you really believe that what this verse reveals about our Lord is really real? It is! And when we get a grasp on the fact that God really is looking for those whose hearts are loyal to Him and that He shows Himself strong on their behalf, it will change the way we live – guaranteed! Oh, don’t you want His searching eyes to stop and stare at you? I sure do!

Webster defines the word “loyal” as: “having or showing complete and constant support; unswerving in allegiance.”

The Bible says that none of us are "unswerving" in our faithfulness to the Lord (Rom. 3:10). None of us show complete and constant support. But Jesus Christ is unswerving in His faithfulness to us – He proved it on the cross. Jesus shows us complete and constant support – He gave us the Comforter, His Holy Spirit to guide us and lead us along life’s way. So you see, when we read that God searches the earth for those who are faithful or loyal and we think: “Well He won’t, He can’t, stop and stare at me,” we are completely and totally, one-hundred percent wrong! Why? Because when God looks at us, the unfaithful, the unloyal, what He sees is us covered in Christ, the most faithful and the most loyal of all.

"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5:21

Know this, as God searches the earth, His eyes do stop and stare at you because of what His Son has done for you and because you have received His gift of grace. You and I, my friends, we are the apple of His searching eyes (Zech. 2:8).
