Wholeheartedly
Today's Through the Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 13-15
Abbreviated Reading: 2 Chronicles 15
Nothing can give us rest like seeking the Lord and finding Him.
They rejoiced...with all their heart, and sought Him with their whole desire; and He was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about. 2 Chronicles 15:15
God wanted Israel to follow Him, love Him, and be fully devoted to Him (Ezekiel 14:5). He desires the same from us.
…Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind… Luke 10:27
In today’s Thru the Bible reading, king Asa is a great example of following the Lord wholeheartedly…
He commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to observe the law and the commandment. He also removed the high places and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah, and the kingdom was quiet under him. 2 Chronicles 14:4-5
God’s ways bring peace and quietness of heart. King Asa followed through in obedience by removing the false gods and the places that were devoted to them. Those places were no longer found in Israel.
What a picture and challenge for our individual lives! That we would seek the Lord with our whole desire, that the “high places” that compete for our affection would be decimated – no longer found in our heart of hearts, and that our lives would be still and full of peace because they are governed by God and God alone.
So today’s as you dig into God’s Word, let the Holy Spirit search your inner parts and reveal the “high places” that need to be removed.
