Today’s Through the Bible Reading: 1 Kings 14:1–18; Psalm 89

Abbreviated Reading: Psalm 89

Our God is mightier than the noise of many waters.

The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. Psalm 93:4

He rules over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them. Psalm 89:9

We can fill our hearts with His Word and His voice stills the storm. That’s exactly what the Psalmist does in today’s reading.  Psalm 89 recounts God’s promises and faithfulness despite circumstances.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3

No matter how fierce the storm, God promises to take us from glory to glory and we’ll arrive safely on the other side – guaranteed! (2 Corinthians 3:18)

If God has led you in a certain direction or given you a promise, don’t be rattled by the storm you encounter along the way. Call on Jesus, who rules the seas and the wind and waves obey Him (Mark 4:41). His plans are steadfast. What He determines, He will accomplish. He promises to finish the good work in us that He’s begun.

Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6

He promises us peace that passes understanding (Phil 4:7) and life everlasting (Rom 6:23). These plans are steadfast and unmovable!
