Come and See
Today’s Through the Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 29-30; Psalm 66; Psalm 67
“Come and see what God has done, His awesome deeds for mankind!” Psalm 66:5
Come and see what God has done! Oh, may that be the cry of my heart – of your heart – of our hearts! Throughout the Old Testament we find just that as we read about those who loved God, faithfully proclaiming His forgiveness and redemption – “His awesome deeds for mankind.”
“Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what He has done for me.” Psalm 66:16 NIV
We see the same “song” sung in the Gospels when those who saw God’s work told others about it and encouraged them to “Come and see.”
“And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.” John 1:46
“The woman then left her waterpot, and went…and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” John 4:28-29
There’s no greater news to be told than simply “Your sins are forgiven!” Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God’s standard (Rom. 3:23). We cannot work our way to heaven (Isa. 64:6; Eph. 2:8). We need someone to plead our case and that someone is the One who ever lives to make intercession for us – it’s JESUS.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Consider His goodness, His great love, and saving grace today and make sure to say to those around you, “Come and see” what He’s done for you and for me!
