Wicked Good
Today's Through the Bible Reading: 2 Kings 17; Isaiah 5; 1 Chronicles 4:34-4
Abbreviated Reading: 2 Kings 17; Isaiah 5
"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil...to those who are wise in their own eyes..." Isaiah 5:20, 21
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you called something bad good? Yikes. This is a hard truth to live out in today's society. Depravity is the applauded humor. God's natural law is replaced with man's ideas of right and wrong. The importance of being grounded in God's Word and His righteousness is replaced with emotionally stimulating soundbites rather than the reading of the Bible.
Today's Bible reading gives a glimpse of a life refusing to hold God's truth as an anchor. God knew what sin would do to us and as a loving Father, warns of the scars it will leave in its wake. Sadness and hardships in life are too often self inflicted results of substituting our "wisdom" instead of obeying God's. God is the creator of the world and knows best. We do not. So let's hold fast to His standards, truth, and law and LIVE free of those scars and ramifications that sin is guaranteed to bring.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11
