God’s Answer to Job is His Answer to You
Jesus seen in Job
Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Job 38-39
Abbreviated Reading: Job 38
"...Stop and consider God's wonders." Job 37:14
Really, stop and consider God's wonders and His mighty deeds. Not only did He create the vast heavens, and the intricate workings of human life, but also orchestrates our daily life and establishes our way. He is God of ALL, including our trials and storms. He never takes His eyes off of us and works all things for our good.
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy. 1 Peter 4:12, 13
Just as God showed Himself faithful and answered Job in the storm, He answers us as well. God’s answer turns Job’s attention directly away from his situation and onto God’s character: His omniscience, His majesty, His power, and His tender mercies.
“Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart? Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God…” Job 38:36, 41
But God’s greatest answer to Job is found in God’s greatest gift: His Son Jesus.
“Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?” Job 38:17
Jesus died on the cross, tasting death for us (John 19:30; Heb. 2:9), He descended into “the deep” or “lower parts of the earth” (Rom. 10:7; Eph. 4:9), and led captivity captive (Eph. 4:8; Ps. 68:18).
Indeed we see Jesus in Job 38! And God’s answer to Job is His answer to you - all answers are found in His Son, Jesus.
He is compassionate and answers our doubts with reassurance. Remember His mighty saving arm and His love for you.
God laid the foundations of the earth, He determined its measurements and fastened its foundations (Job 38:4); He laid its cornerstone (38:6); He shut in the sea with doors (38:6); and made the clouds its garment (38:9); He fixed limits for the sea and said, 'This far you may come, but no farther, here your proud waves must stop!' (38:10, 11); He's the one who commands the morning and causes the dawn to know its place (38:12); He makes it rain and knows the ordinances of the heavens (38:26); He puts wisdom in the mind and gives understanding (38:36); He provides food for the raven and cares for His creation (38:39-41)
The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power... Job 37:23
We are held tight in His hand and He is in control. Keep your eyes on Jesus.
