A New Heart

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 7:1-11:15

Reformation vs. Regeneration that brings transformation is today’s topic.

Our hearts cannot change through external rules, but a transformed heart brings about changed behavior. If your behavior has not changed, ask if your heart has been reborn and your mind transformed.

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1

A person can try to be a Christian outwardly, but their hearts can remain far from God:

Although you wash yourself with soap and use an abundance of cleansing powder, the stain of your guilt is still before me, declares the Sovereign LORD. Jeremiah 2:22

This is Reformation – what our heart needs is Regeneration that brings Transformation. We must be born again.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' John 3:6, 7

Only after we've been born again like Jesus said, can we experience true regeneration that brings transformation. Then there is power over sin and our re-born hearts can be cleansed and our lives cleaned up.

If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:6, 7

So, if you've declared Jesus as your Lord and Savior, King of your life, if you've been born again and made new (2 Cor 5:17), then you have been cleansed from all unrighteousness and are being transformed into His image. Praise the Lord for a new heart that brings a new way of life!
