Is the Bible Really Inerrant?

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Jeremiah 34; Jeremiah 39; 2 Kings 25; 2 Chronicles 36:15-21

People ask, "does the Bible contain inconsistencies of contradict itself?" This is a good question because there are passages that appear confusing. At first glance, one might even think these are contradictions. BUT, a closer consideration reveals NOT an oversight or confused account, but quite the contrary - God's depth of detail and faithfulness to fulfill every angle of His Word. Today's reading is a great example of this...

God told Jeremiah to tell King Zedekiah, “you will see the king of Babylon with your own eyes, and he will speak with you face to face. And you will go to Babylon.” Jeremiah 34:3

Hold on, didn't we just read in Ezekiel 12:12, 13 that Zedekiah wouldn't see Babylon. What’s going on here?!

Here lies the importance of reading the entire Bible and reading in context!

Zedekiah never did see Babylon, yet ALL of God’s words came true.

When taking siege of Jerusalem, King Nebuchadnezzar found Zedekiah attempting to dig his way out of the city. Zedekiah spoke with Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, face to face – just as prophesied (Jeremiah 34:3). Then Nebuchadnezzar had Zedekiah’s eyes poked out and carried him off to Babylon. Zedekiah never saw Babylon with his eyes – just as prophesied (Ezekiel 12:12, 13).

We may not be able to see today how God intends to fulfill His promises and prophecies tomorrow, but we can be certain that He WILL. His Word stands firm and He is faithful to every word He has spoken. It will all come to pass just as He promises!

He promised to come and redeem us from our sin and He did. He promises to return and take us to heaven and He Will. Soon and very soon we’ll be going to see our King!

Truly, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." 2 Tim 3:16
