Kinsman Redeemer
Jesus seen in the book of Ruth
Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Ruth 3-4
Abbreviated Reading: Ruth 4
“Blessed is the Lord who has not left you without a redeemer today.… May he also be to you a restorer of life and a sustainer of your old age.” Ruth 4:14, 15 nasb
Today’s reading is full of good news… Ruth is “redeemed” as her hero Boaz takes the place of her kinsman-redeemer. What was a Jewish custom became one of the sweetest pictures of Jesus, our bridegroom taking action to redeem His bride, the Church.
We finish up the book of Ruth with a glimpse into this World’s greatest moment, the beginning of the genealogy of our Redeemer, Jesus. Ruth and Boaz were the great-grandparents of King David, by whose lineage Jesus came.
Then we start the book of 1 Samuel and meet Hannah, who learns to pray according to God’s will and receives her heart's desire as her prayer for a child is answered.
If you have unanswered prayers and wonder if God hears your heart’s cry…read Hannah’s story and know that God hears your prayer! His timing is perfect and He may just be teaching you to pray according to His will.
