Jesus, Day by Day: July
This Month’s Reading Plan at a Glance: July
Randsomed and Redeemed
"I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will REDEEM them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction..." Hosea 13:14
These were the words spoken by the prophet Hosea over 700 years before Christ. Hosea's message to God's chosen people Israel and to us is one of God's unwavering love and compassion; despite our shortcomings or tendencies to wander. God redeemed Israel and has redeemed us through the precious blood of Christ.
Redeemed means, "to release upon payment of a ransom". As believers in Jesus Christ we have been Redeemed. (Col 1:14)
In whom we have REDEMPTION through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1:7
The promise of this redemption was spoken of throughout the Old Testament. The prophet Hosea knew God would send a redeemer and although he didn't know exactly how God would keep His promise - Hosea knew God was faithful and would!
As New Testament Christians, we can look back and see exactly how God fulfilled all of His promises through JESUS. We have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ. We are His treasure and have been ransomed by His own hand.
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold...But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1 Peter 1:18, 19
May we be people of His Word, considering ALL that He has done and how faithful He is.
We NEED God’s Word! And I am so glad to be reading through it with you. Keep reading, keep seeking wisdom, keep being transformed into His likeness!
