Rest

Throughout the New Testament, Jesus extends peace and an invitation for us to come and REST. Whether He brought rest to a situation, to a raging sea, or a life in turmoil, Jesus' calms.

This week we took a step back and looked at the bigger picture found in the Gospels. It begins with the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus told the crown that the Father in Heaven knows our needs, cares for us, provides for us, and we can trust Him.

Then Jesus demonstrates His message by raising the widow's son from the dead (Lk 7:14); healing the sick (Lk 7:21); proclaiming forgiveness of sin (Lk 7:47, 48); calming the storm (Mk 4:39); and then calming the terrorized life of the demon possessed man (Mk 5:2). Wherever Jesus went, He brought rest to those He touched.

He tells us to take His yoke, because it's easy - not heavy or overbearing. He not only bears our cares, but took our sin and carries our iniquities.
